2.If the stinger has been removed, wash the wound well with soap and water.
3.Cold compresses will help relieve the pain and swelling.
4.The stung area should be kept lower than the heart to slow the circulation of the venom.

Insect bites and stings can be life-threatening. In all cases bites, watch for signs of allergic reactions and if they do appear, seek professional medical attention without delay.

Unwanted Animals at homes

Many of us have animals at homes. They are called pet animals. We usually consider them as part of the family because of the things they do for us. These animals bring joy to our lives that we cannot help but treat them as humans. We talk to them even if they don’t understand us. We feed them, play with them, and pamper them. But do you know that there are animals that we don’t like to see or don’t want to take care of that stay in our house? These are harmful animals which can cause diseases or even bring death. So before they can cause any harm, it’s best to get rid of them fast.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s start destroying them so they can’t harm us anymore!

The world of insects

Insects live almost everywhere. We can easily spot them. They always have six legs and most have wings. When it comes to finding food, insects are at the head of the class. They have sharp eyesight and two long feelers called antennae to help them smell and feel for food. Many of them munch on leaves or drink juice from flowers. Others are fierce meat eaters that eat other creepy crawlers.Scientists have named over one million kinds of insects. There may still be millions out there to discover. Let us meet some of them.

Cicadas. They are know as the world’s loudest insect. They lived in fields, forests, and deserts.

Bees. Live together in nest or hives built for them by people. In summer, they fly from flower to flower to suck up a sweet juice called nectar. They take it back to the nest and turn it into honey. Bees also use a sticky yellow flower dust, called pollen, for food.

Crickets. Are known as champion jumpers. They have super-strong back legs that help them leap high into the air. This chirping insect usually comes out at night to search for food. By day, it hides under rocks or in shallow holes in the ground to look for plants and even other insects to eat.

Dragonfly. In the air, this mighty, bright colorful insect is an amazing acrobat. It can even fly backward! Buzzing mosquitoes and flies are no much to this lightning-quick hunter with its enormous eyes to catch dinner in midair.

Beetle. Comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. A few have brightly patterned bodies. The crawl, but they can fly, too. Some are strong that they can carry objects more than 850 times heavier than themselves.

Butterfly. Sucks flowers for a drink. Its long tongue works like a straw and is perfect for sucking up nectar.

Praying mantis. A deadly hunter, it sits on a leaf, where it waits for other insects and stretches out its spiny front legs to grab its snack.

Cockroaches. Feast on almost anything. At night, these creatures creep around houses searching for food with their hair-like feather.

Taking care of animals

Pet foods are available in the market. They contain all the nutrients animals need to stay strong and healthy. Pet foods may be wet or dry. They may be brought in cans, or by the kilo. Many of them are ready to eat.

Aside from giving your pets its basic needs, you should also love and care for it. How else can you take good care of your pets? You can cuddle them and play with them. Pet dogs and cats like attention. If you show them you care for them, they will be loyal to you.

If your pet gets sick, you should bring it to a veterinarian. A veterinarian is a doctor of animals.

Here’s a simple tips of keeping a pet fish:

1.All you need are guppies, a clean jar, water, and pebbles.
2.Lay clean pebbles inside the jar and fill it with water. Let the water stand undisturbed overnight.
3.In the morning, put the guppies into the jar carefully. You may add water plants into the jar.
4.Take car of your pet fish. Give them just enough fish food every day. Replace the water regularly.

Some animals are in danger for getting killed completely because they are being hunted and their habitats are being destroyed. To help save these animals, scientists are doing captive breeding. Captive breeding is a way of helping animals reproduce while under the care of scientists.

In captive breeding, animals are kept in man-made shelters and are given all their basic needs. When they give birth, their young are cared for, too. When the young are fully grown, they are released into their natural homes. From time to time, released animals are observed to keep track of their growth and development.

Did you know that it is healthy to have pets? Watching your pets play or stroking their fur can be a way to relax. They can even make you smile or laugh with their tricks. You also get to exercise when you walk them around the neighborhood. Having a pet is like having something to look forward to at the end of a busy day.

Animals needs home, too!

While Mica and Aida were walking along the school pathway, they noticed a poster. It showed pictures of various animals. Mica read the poster. “Care for the animals. Protect their homes”.

Animals have their own home, too. Like us, they also need a place where they can stay.Different animals live in different places. The place where an animal lives is called habitat. Animals live in habitats where they can get all their basic needs. Some animals live on land. Dogs, cats, horses, goats, and chickens are examples of animals that live on land.

Some animals live above the ground. Birds build their nests on trees. Bees usually hang their hives on tree branches. Many animals live in the water. Fish live in rivers, lakes, or oceans. Some fish live near the water surface. Others live on the ocean floor. Big animals like dolphins and whales also live in water. They live in big bodies of water like the ocean. Some animals live both on the land and in water. They include frogs and turtles.

Did you know that many animals lose their habitats because people destroy them? Some people cut the trees where birds live. Others throw garbage in the sea where many fish live. Garbage makes the water dirty.

Around the world, many forests where animals live are being destroyed. Laws have been made to protect forests worldwide. These laws forbid people from doing activities that destroy animal homes. An example of thee activities is illegal logging.

You can start helping the animals by throwing your garbage in proper places. You should not step on plants where small animals live. Like us, animals also need a safe and clean place where they can live and grow.

Animal needs

All animals like growing children, have their own needs. They need food, clean water, and clean air to be strong and healthy. Without these, they die.

Different animals eat different foods. Birds eat worms and other small animals such as insects. Dogs and cats eat fish and other meat. Rabbits, cows and horses eat plants.

Animals also need clean water to drink. They get clean water from different sources like rivers and springs. Some get clean water from small pools of water in leaves or rocks. Some animals like fish live in water. They also get food and air from the water. The water has to be clean so fish can live in it.All animals need clean and fresh air to breathe. Without air, they will die. If you need to carry an animal, place it in a container with holes that will let in enough air.

Animals also need shelter. Animals in the wild live in caves, burrows, or cracks in trees. In the sea, animals live in the sand and coral reefs. Pets are lucky because their owners usually make homes for them. A bird is kept in a cage. A dog stays in a doghouse. Pet fish are placed in an aquarium.

These homes should be big enough for your pet to move comfortably. Keep your pets clean by giving them a bath or grooming them. Their homes should also be kept clean.Animals also need rest and sleep. Pets get tired, too, so their homes should be located in and place where it is not too hot or cold and there is enough air.

If the needs of the animals are not met, they get weak or sick or may even die.
